I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), widely known as Bali Airport or Denpasar Airport, is the island's only commercial airport and the main gateway to Bali. About the airport

The airport sits in the Tuban area on the narrow neck of land in southern Bali, between Kuta and Jimbaran, about 3 km south of Kuta (a 10–15 minute drive in light traffic) and roughly 13 km south of Denpasar, the provincial capital. It has separate Domestic and International terminals and is operated by PT Angkasa Pura I. Bali runs on Central Indonesia Time (WITA, UTC+8); the currency is the Indonesian rupiah (IDR), and traffic drives on the left.

Getting from the airport to Denpasar and the resorts

There is no train or metro on Bali, so everyone travels by road, and local traffic can be heavy, so allow more time than the distance suggests. The main options are:

  • Official airport taxi, a fixed-fare coupon system by zone, arranged at a counter in the arrivals area (see our Bali airport taxi guide).
  • Private transfers, pre-booked, door-to-door rides at a fixed price; many hotels arrange them (compare on our airport transfers page).
  • Ride-hailing apps, Grab and Gojek operate on the island, though pick-ups directly at the airport are restricted to designated points.
  • Car and scooter rental, handy for exploring at your own pace, remembering that Bali drives on the left.
  • Hotel shuttles, many resorts arrange a pick-up when you book.

The terminals cover the essentials for a smooth trip: duty-free and souvenir shops, restaurants and cafés, car-rental and taxi desks, ATMs and money changers, free Wi-Fi, and assistance for passengers with reduced mobility.
